From 22nd to the 24th of June, the Regional Meeting of Activists Against Incineration and Zero Waste Program was held at the Eco-center Animas, Cojutepeque, El Salvador. Representatives from various organizations of Panama, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Mexico and Puerto Rico Participated in the meeting.

The aim of the meeting was to share positive experiences of waste management in the region and generate a common strategy against waste incineration.

We are proud to report that SiKanda’s project, "Transforming Trash," was one of fifteen winners at UVM Award 2011. The UVM Prize for Social Development recognizes the best projects of youth-led social impact. It is a cooperative initiative of the Sylvan/Laureate Foundation, the International Youth Foundation, and the Universidad del Valle de Mexico, which annually recognizes the work of 15 entrepreneurs in benefitting their community.
