To our dear friends and supporters, we proudly announce that yesterday, we did our first harvest of wormcompost fertilizer with the Pepenadores at the dump in Oaxaca. They have been doing a great job in the last 3 months working with their worm units. It's time now to comercialize it and it will be another source of income for them.

The documentary "Pepenadores: Los que viven de la basura" was accepted among the Official Selection of the International Independent Film Festival of Oaxaca 2010. The documentary, together with other 114 documentaries and feature films were chosen out of 600 subscribed films. 30 countries are represented among those Thailand, Kirgyzstan, Czec Reublic, USA, Italy, etc. Only 7 documentaries and featured films that were made by Oaxacan people or that deal with Oaxaca themes passed to the next... August 16th, 12 members of the pepenador union Guieniza, accompanied by Elea, Pedro, and Alex of SiKanda, participated in a worm-compost training conducted by CAMPO. Worm-composting is one of the projects implemented by SiKanda, in collaboration with the union of pepenadores, Guieniza, which looks to take advantage of the organic waste in the municipal landfill of Oaxaca City and transform this into high quality fertilizer thanks to the worm-composting process.  Two months ago, three families... On August, saturday 7th, we finished the construction of the first Tetra Pak® house at the land field, part of the “Sanitary risk reduction” program undertaken by SiKanda in collaboration with the Blaise Pascal Institute. From June the 14th to July the 13th, Seth Reynolds and Maria Glauser carried out a bike ride across the United Kingdom to raise funds for SiKanda and the vermicompost project. The Voyage of Dialogue and Discovery took Pr. Rajmohan Gandhi to Mexico, one of the 14 countries he decided to visit.
